When i was 14 i fell from the top to the bottom of the stairs and smacked my face on the floor
and ever since this i’ve had a deviated septum
it causes many problems for me because i now can’t proper breathe through my nose and sometimes i find it really uncomfortable.
i was just wondering if i would qualify to receive a nose job on the NHS? And also wondered how old you have to be to get it? because i’m only 17 at the moment.
Thanks.
Has any heard about this nose+job product: 101 FREE Cooking Tips? I actually have used it and found it to be excellent.
Sorry to contradict some of the posters but yes you can have rhinoplasty on the national health.
Firstly if it is affecting your breathing and secondly if you can prove it upsetting your quality of life ,because its making you depressed .
The only thing you would have to go for counselling if its the latter and will have to wait until you are at least 18.
As you have a deviated septum and are experiencing breathing problems you will need a Septoplasty (as opposed to Rhinoplasty). And as this is a repair job, not a ‘nose job’, you should be able to have it done through the NHS. Every case is considered on its own merits, so why not have a chat with your GP about this, for he’s the person who would need to refer you to a surgeon, who in turn would advise you. At 17, your age should not present a problem.
You should be able to get treatment if the consultant agrees that surgery would correct any breathing issue.
Contact your GP first and they’ll refer you to a hospital ENT (ear nose and throat) unit. You’ll then see a consultant who will assess the problem and make a recommendation. They may delay surgery due to your age and other factors.
Surgery brings it’s own complications so be prepared for them and the pain involved, but if it’s bad you should get is seen to
