My husband has a horrible snoring problem. It is to the point where I don’t sleep so have to go in a different room at night. I don’t want to have to do this but have our two small children to care for during the day so I have to get some rest. I believe it affects his quality of sleep too as he seems restless during the night. Is there anything out there that has worked for any of you? He has mentioned surgery but I am hoping it doesn’t have to go that far. Please help!

It sounds like he probably has sleep apnea. This most definitely interferes with getting good quality sleep. It has a wide variety of other, not so good, effects on health.
Check out the American Sleep Apnea web site (even if not in the US, lots of good information there).
In the past 10 years or so, many sleep disorder centers have opened. He should get a referral from his doctor to see a sleep specialist. If he is diagnosed with sleep apnea, the standard treatment is a CPAP machine (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure). Losing weight almost always helps to reduce snoring, too.
I think that surgery is a treatment of last resort
Sleep apnea should be treated, not ignored.
Try the tennis ball trick. Put a tennis ball in a sock and pin it to the shirt he sleeps in. Many people who snore do so while sleeping on their backs. If he rolls over at night, the tennis ball will nudge him back on to his side. The other thing to try is a humidifier. Many people snore because of undiagnosed allergies. The humidifier will ease his breathing at night. Whatever you do to help him stop snoring, it is worth it. Heavy snoring has been linked to a 67% increased risk of stroke.
This pillow really helps: http://www.tractionneckpillow.com
It will put the neck in alignment taking pressure off important nerves that travel to the sinuses. Also it will help to open the nasal passge ways.
I would try everything possible before opting for a surgey.
Good luck.
